Welcome..

Ju Jitsu is a Japanese martial art which focuses on very effective close combat fighting skills. The primary focus of Ju Jitsu is self defence and therefore there is a lack of fancy and flamboyant moves that are popular in some other styles but are in truth suicidal in a real life situation. Instead the Ju Jitsu fighter uses punches, strikes, throws, locks and choking to defend him / herself. The style works in a direct and no nonsense manner and is highly aggressive in its application.

Although self defence is usually the major reason for a practitioner to take up Ju Jistu, there are many others such as keeping fit, improving confidence, increased self control, making new friends, achieving belt grades, and taking part in sports competitions. Entering tournaments is entirely optional and is the choice of each individual member. Fighters trained by Freestyle Ju Jitsu UK have competed in Ju Jitsu, Submission Wrestling, Judo, Brazilian Ju Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts. To date we have currently an 83% medal rate in national open to all competitions and 100% medal rate at regional open to all competitions.

The underlying philosophy of Freestyle Ju Jitsu UK is to use the martial arts as a vehicle to improve ourselves in many different ways, to become a better person through the training. The true martial artist should be of benefit to the community in which he / she lives and should give particular help to the less fortunate. To this end Freestyle Ju Jitsu UK regularly donates club funds to various charities. This year at the start of 2008, we have just donated £260 to the Great Ormond Street Hospital for sick children.

If you think you may be interested in training with us, please take a further look at the information on our site. We have our own private members only gym located in Beckenham, Kent. We welcome anyone with a serious attitude towards training and you do not have to be particularly fit or have any prior martial arts experience. Complete beginners are most welcome.

We takes this opportunity to wish everyone a very happy new year 2008!
